Crimson Oracle - the European Peacock Butterfly

45,00 - 85,00

The European Peacock (Aglais io) is a drop of living fire that refuses to die in winter. Deep in some frost-hollowed tree or forgotten shed, it sleeps the cold months away, wings folded like a secret. Then, on the first true day of spring, it unfurls: velvet crimson drenched in fresh blood, four impossible eyes blazing cobalt and gold, ringed in funeral black. When danger nears, it snaps those wings open with an audible click, and suddenly the air is full of peacock plumage and dragon stare. Predators freeze; mortals gasp. Six centimetres of pure theatre. A cathedral window that learned how to fly. From March to October it dances over nettles and buddleia, a scarlet heartbeat against the green, proving that even the smallest creature can carry the sun on its back.
