Golden-green Phantom of the Sierra” – Quentalia Silkworm Moth

Imagine a silkworm that never learned to be ordinary. While its famous cousin spins the silk of emperors, the wild Quentalia from the mountains of southern Spain and Portugal keeps its secret: wings of soft green, dusted with gold and charcoal freckles and a soft ivory touch. At dusk it flits through cork-oak groves like a living coin tossed by moonlight, its plump silk-spinning body wrapped in the same shimmering thread it once wove as a caterpillar.
Only a handful of people ever see one; it flies for just a few nights each May, then vanishes back into legend. A tiny, green golden ghost that proves silk can belong to the wild as much as to palaces.
Let the sierra’s phantom keep its green-and-gold heartbeat on your wall long after the last cork-oak leaf has fallen.
