NYMPHALIS ANTIOPA - THE ELEGANT SURVIVOR

Elegant, dark and surprisingly resilient.
The Mourning Cloak has deep, velvety wings surrounded by a delicate pale edge and small blue spots.
But its beauty is more than appearance.
It can survive the cold season as an adult butterfly, then return to activity when warmer days arrive.
I love the contrast between its fragile appearance and its remarkable resilience.
