Euplagia quadripunctaria - the Spanish flag - is a diurnal moth, widely distributed in Europe, Asia Minor and Iran.
Petaloudes, on Rodes, is famous for its Valley of the Butterflies, where the subspecies E. q. rhodosensis can be found on occasion aestivating in large groups.
